Position Overview:

This Local Network Deployment Manager role is responsible for managing TELUS' contracted work force involved in the build of all TELUS outside plant infrastructure. Strong management/leadership skills and financial acumen are a necessity, as this role requires successful management of a diverse team of Build Contractors while adhering to the corporate budget. Maintains quality standards and compliancy's to ensure workload is retired to meet strategic objectives. The successful candidate must be capable of working closely with internal and external teams to develop consistent operating processes within the Construction discipline. Work must be in accordance with service standards and project requirements as well as other regulatory and mandatory criteria (e.g. Safety, occupational health, authorizations, etc.)

***60% travel requirement within BC or AB

    •Manage contractor/partner teams responsible for the designated region, project or product line as required
    •Ensure capital and operations fiscal management is maintained within the Capital Build Program for the region
    •Review contractor/partner quotes and submit recommendations based on cost, performance and resourcing
    •Manage entire work package components including schedule, material, revisions, approvals, threats and releases, compliancy's, cost and reporting
    •Enforce TELUS standards and practices within the contractor community including adherence to all TELUS safety programs
    •Providing detailed site assessments and feedback following TELUS Quality Assurance SLA procedures on the quality and performance of the work completed
    •Develop client-vendor relationships with the contracted workforce to ensure a common understanding of TELUS expectations across all contract groups' expectations across all contract groups
    •Manage primeship responsibilities for quality control related business initiatives/opportunities as required/directed


Required Knowledge:
    •Leadership involving communication of requirements, expectations and project coordination and performance management
    •Strong knowledge of Telecom; built operations, scheduling, design, project management and standards
    •Knowledge of process management and leadership skills as related to activities encompassing a large contracted work force
    •Knowledge of financial reporting as it relates to the capital build program
    •Familiarity and ability to work with SAP, MS Office and other internal systems

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Ability to maintain a high level of performance under varying conditions and time constraints
    •Must exemplify, illustrate, promote and apply corporate values
    •Must possess behavioral flexibility, tenacity and key communication skills
    •Effective oral and written presentation, persuasiveness
    •Demonstration of sound judgment and decisiveness

    •Proven team leadership skills
    •Proven ability to analyze, monitor and manage a budget
    •Ability to work with internal and external team members to improve their performance through observing, assessing and sharing information about performance expectations
    •Ability to communicate and deal positively with customers under both favorable and unfavorable circumstances

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •Related degree/diploma or equivalent related experience
    •PMP certification would be an asset
    •Journeyman Communication Electrician certificate would be an asset

Required Experience:
    •Previous related management experience an asset
    •Technical experience in telecom outside build construction and/or cable maintenance
    •Demonstrated team player with ability to work in a cross-functional environment
    •Experience interfacing with customers to resolve customer service issues
