Job Title: FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER | #2225
Service Area: Vocational & Community Services
Location: Vancouver, BC
Start Date: August 24, 2026 
Term/Status: Permanent Full Time
Schedule/Hours: Flex-Time // 37.5 hours per week (flexible hours)
Hourly Wage: $30.18 – $33.49 as per the collective agreement (2024 rates, implementation of new collective agreement is in process, and new wage rates $32.02 to $35.52 will be implemented once funding is received)


The Role:  

The Family Support Worker assists families with a variety of tasks, including (but not limited to) connecting to resources, federal and provincial applications, charity applications and overall system navigation. The Family Support Worker also plans, hosts and facilitates workshops and Family Support Groups. This role involves evening and weekend work as program needs dictate.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

  •  A professional degree from a University or College of recognized standing in a field related to family support, i.e., Social Work, Education, or Psychology.
  • Three to five years’ experience working with individuals who require information & assistance.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral & written.
  • Knowledge of the school system in B.C. and the various government agencies & systems.
  • Experience facilitating groups.
  • Experience in establishing relationships and working in cooperation with parents, volunteers, teachers, other staff and individuals from related social service agencies and the school system.
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • A second language is an asset
  • Medical Clearance
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • Class 5 Driver's License & use of a vehicle is required
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Eligible to work in Canada
