Location Coquitlam Campus Salary Range
$71,846 - $115,129 annually. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

WHAT IT TAKES
This position works with all Health Sciences Departments, both faculty and staff, to provide the overall leadership and coordination for the assessment, recommendation and development of educational methodologies to best support education in Health Sciences. Additionally, this position provides basic liaison functions to assist and promote faculty research in Health Sciences.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :


PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT :

    • Conducts literature searches and participates in activities which inform up and coming practices in education relevant to Health Sciences
    • Facilitates the planning, development, and implementation of standards for best practices in educational methodology;
    • Develops and coordinates policies, procedures, and practices related to the use of best practices in educational methodology;
    • Participates as part of annual and ongoing planning process in recommending operational and capital relative to educational methodology in collaboration with members of the Health Sciences Interactive Learning and Collaboration ( ILC ) Steering Committee;
    • Identifies, as relevant, available external sources of funding for activities;
    • In conjunction with Program Coordinators/Director/Managers, plans and develops orientation and learning activities related to educational best practices for new faculty and other relevant learner groups in Health Sciences and other Douglas College departments, as appropriate;
    • Assists Program Coordinators, Directors, Managers and others in assessing and recommending best practices developments for their programs.
    • Apprises Dean and other relevant stakeholders of plans and activities related to educational methodology on a regular and ongoing basis;
    • Participates in the development of scholarly and evaluation activities relating to educational best practices.

OPERATIONS AND LIASON :

    • Works with programs to assist in their development and implementation of activities related to educational methodology in alignment with Health Science Faculty and departmental priorities;
    • Liaises as relevant and appropriate with internal and external stakeholders in acquiring and providing expertise related to educational methodologies;
    • Develops proposals for external sources of funding for educational activities if available and when appropriate;
    • Develops and maintains effective communication strategies for communicating information across all Health Sciences programs, faculty, staff, and internal/external liaisons;
    • Engages in team building and interprofessional activities as appropriate in developing educational methodologies activities;
    • Works as the operational and communications link between Health Science Departments and internal and external stakeholders in relation to scope of responsibilities;
    • Collaborates with departments to assist in organizing priority professional development workshops related to new and/or current research resources;
    • Explores, recommends, and collaboratively develops, on a priority basis and in alignment with workload allocation, professional development activities which best match Health Sciences faculty needs to the development of research and scholarship capacities;
    • Implements appropriate processes and procedures in relation to emerging issues and trends impacting educational methodologies;
    • Provides relief and assistance in operational matters to other Coordinators, if required, and when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS :

    • Bachelor's degree in health care or related field required. Master's degree or doctorate preferred;
    • Minimum of three years' experience as an educator in any program offered within Health Sciences or a related field;
    • Demonstrated understanding of the educational experiences of undergraduate students;
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, operationalize, and evaluate evidence based best practices in education with an emphasis online learning methods;
    • Demonstrated ability to translate complex knowledge and skills about educational methods to a wide variety of diverse learners and provide appropriate and timely developmental support;
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively apply relevant educational and administrative policies and collective agreement provisions if required;
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and contribute effectively to a professional team and demonstrate excellent conflict management and resolution skills;
    • Demonstrated ability to write reports and materials in a coherent and scholarly manner;
    • Demonstrated ability to develop solutions-oriented approaches to complex situations;
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a timely and effective manner;
    • Demonstrated ability to use and learn a variety of computer and web-based software as well as supporting diverse learners in their use;
    • Demonstrated initiative and interest in acquiring new knowledge, skills and abilities related to educational practice.
Additional Information
The Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking a Coordinator for Learning Strategy, Design, and Research Liaison. This is a term-limited 1 year position, available due to a temporary restructuring of duties. The position takes effect September 1, 2026 and has three (3) sectionsof time release available for the 2026-2027 academic year.
