Lagoon Cove Marina is an extremely remote, full service marina offering moorage, power, fuel, water, wifi, showers and washrooms, guest accommodations, clothing and gifts store, trails, and more to both commercial and tourism based clients. There are no roads or amenities on the island and no nearby ferry service. This is a full time, permanent position that pays $66,500 per year.

 

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

-Staff Management and Development
-Preparing financial and project reports
-Coordinating reservations and “boat in” guests
-Email, text, and VHF communications with guests
-Ordering goods to be sold and managing inventory of:
    -Fuel
    -Clothing and sundry items for store
    -Snacks and pop
    -Oils and fluids
-Coordinating daily moorage plan with staff
-Opening and closing POS daily including report printing
-Billing and Invoicing clients monthly
-Administering staff progress and assessment meetings and reports
-Overseeing maintenance program for generators, power equipment, and boats
-Preparing budget requests and managing assigned budgets
-Tying and untying boats from the dock and managing (with staff) boat placement on docks
-Coordinating with staff for supply runs in boat
-Coordinating staff time off


The applicant need to possess the following qualifications:

-Excellent English speaking and writing skills
-Four year University Degree
-2 years of managing staff including interviewing, hiring, and firing as well as staff development and mentoring
-2 years experience working with a POS system and processing cash and credit based sales
-2 years experience in property management
-2 years experience with power tools including chainsaws
-2 years experience in customer service with one year of customer service based in a boating tourism business
-1+ years experience marketing a destination tourism location
-1+ years experience managing all aspects of a remote full service marina similar to Lagoon Cove Marina
-1+ years experience developing and operating within a budget
-1+ years experience living an off-grid lifestyle including heating with a woodstove, gathering water from sources on the property, maintaining and running diesel generators, and infrequent trips to town.
-1+ years experience living in the remote wilderness with long stretches of time living without seeing others, and sometimes sharing the property with bears, cougars, and other wildlife.
-Experienced boater able to read char tplotters, radar, and licensed to use VHF radio
-Experienced with computer use for email, accounting, word processing, and spreadsheets
-Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds
-Ability to think and react calmly during periods of high stress
