The District of West Vancouver is looking to hire casual Facilities Maintenance Worker I's. This position is responsible for:
  • routine maintenance and repair of ice making and swimming pool equipment;
  • performing a variety of cleaning and custodial duties in a Community Services facility;
  • performing minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs not requiring trade certification;
  • operating and maintaining the building heating system not requiring provincial heating certification;
  • operating Direct Digital Control Systems;
  • monitoring geothermal heat pump and aquatic pool systems; and,
  • other related duties as required.

To be considered, applicants must have: completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by related technical courses at a vocational institute, plus some related experience in building maintenance operation and preferably a Pool Operator's and/or Refrigeration Operator Certificate OR an equivalent combination of training and experience; and availability to work daytime hours on weekdays; a current BC Class 5 Driver's License and BC Safety Authority Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate.

We are looking for candidates who have: a good knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in swimming pool, refrigeration, ice making operations, building maintenance and cleaning; a good knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical and heating equipment and services; good written and oral communication skills; previous work in a recreation facility is preferred.

The successful candidates will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status: WVMEA (Union) - Casual
Hours of Work: Hours and days of work may vary.
Rate of Pay: $25.82 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits. This position has a pay structure with five steps which increases based on the number of hours worked in the position.
