This position is 40 hours per week located at the WorkBC Langley and Aldergrove offices. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30-5:00 but will require occasional evening shifts till 6:30pm and Saturdays 10:00am - 3:00pm.

The Role
Representing Douglas College at the Langley and Aldergrove WorkBC Employment Service Centres ( ESC ), the Facilitator/Resource Centre Advisor will deliver Job Search, Career Planning and other employment related workshops to individuals with varying education levels and barriers to employment. The Facilitator/Resource Centre Advisor will create, deliver and evaluate workshops that are face-to-face and online. The Facilitator/Resource Centre Advisor will also use the Integrated Case Management ( ICM ) system to capture client data, to provide evidence of qualitative and quantitative client outcomes, to ensure all billings are accurately recorded and as a communication tool with Case Managers.

Responsibilities

Facilitation:
    •Develop and deliver face-to-face workshops as required by the WorkBC Program. This will include: career planning, job search, life skills, Essential Skills and Employability skills; •Develop respectful, collaborative relationships with clients using a client-centred and learning- outcomes focused approach; •Provide coaching to address individual job search and career exploration needs during workshops; •Facilitate job search workshops in person and on line to guide clients in resume development, cover letters, employment references, interview techniques, and tapping the hidden job market; •Facilitate workshops to assist clients with researching information and statistics including occupation profiles, emerging and declining sectors, education and training options; •Facilitate workshops that increase clients' job maintenance skills such as communication and problem solving skills and workplace assertiveness; •Monitor client attendance and progress in workshops; •Provide written reports regarding client performance and progress; •Create, upload and maintain online job search and career planning workshops; •Review and enhance curriculum on a regular basis to ensure information is current and client feedback is addressed; •Assist with Resource Room/Self-Serve clients as required; •Assist as a Career Coach when needed; •Assist the Centre Manager to coordinate and host special events; •Provide support and backup coverage, including front desk coverage, when required; •Work to the service level standards outlined by the Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction; •Participate in the maintenance of DC's Quality Management System ( ISO 9001:2015).

• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with clients, community and stakeholders;
• Proven ability to perform database entry and research information via the Internet;
• A willingness to work a flexible work schedule.

An Ability To:
• Deliver Job Search, Career Planning and other employment related workshops to individuals with varying education levels and barriers;
• Deliver basic life skills and essential work skills programs;
• Use a variety of Learning Management Systems to facilitate online discussion forums and webinars;
• Work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team in the design, development and delivery of services to ensure program outcomes are met;
• Be adaptable in your approach by adjusting to changes in service delivery models, labour market or participant trends;
• Ability to meet monthly Key Performance Measures.

Knowledge Of:
• Career counselling;
• Training methodologies and knowledge of various assessment tools;
• Current local and provincial labour market trends across a variety of industry sectors;

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and career consulting experience;
• Experience with employment counseling and programs;
• Facilitation experience with a focus on job search, career planning and labour market.

Other Qualifications Considered an Asset:
• Certified Career Development Practitioner;
• Job Club Leader Certification.
