  • Summary:
    The Equipment Sales Manager will be responsible for the sales and marketing of all new and used equipment. This position is accountable for achieving the set objectives for growth in the market share of forestry and construction equipment, ensuring customer retention and profitability by hiring, training, and measuring the performance of equipment sales consultants, managing new and used equipment inventories and establishing customer-focused sales standards.

    Departmental Management:
    • Forecasts aggressive, yet realistic, annual and monthly goals and objectives for the department.
    • Establishes standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining new and used equipment.
    • Promotes teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment throughout the sales, delivery, and follow-up process.
    • Coordinates and monitors all training for sales consultants keeping them up to date on all product lines. (online, product walk around, PowerPoint or traveling to training functions).
    • Ensures proper follow-up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing, monitoring and prospecting utilizing the CRM system and process.
    • Explains, implements, and enforces dealership policies, emphasizing customer satisfaction and a positive dealership image.

    Personnel Management:
    • Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all equipment sales consultants.
    • Coordinates weekly marketing meetings with sales consultants
    • Assists with supervising the equipment sales coordinator.
    • Promotes teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment throughout the sales, delivery, and follow-up process.
    • Monitors the productivity and planned itineraries of each equipment sales consultant
    • Reports all sales activities to Branch Manager, Construction Sales Manager & Forestry Sales Manager
    • Assists individual equipment sales consultants in setting aggressive, yet realistic, monthly goals and objectives and provides them with the support to meet these goals.
    • Conducts performance reviews of equipment sales consultants to meet dealership standards.

    New Equipment Management:
    • Develops and implements a plan to increase market share.
    • Analyzes sales history and market conditions to determine inventory requirements.
    • Conducts major sales promotions in accordance with dealership goals and objectives.
    • Increases the overall profitability of the dealership by successfully implementing manufacturer programs.

    Used Equipment Management:
    • Maintains awareness of current market/wholesale values of used equipment for market area.
    • Ensures that all used equipment is cleaned, serviced and repaired according to dealership guidelines
    • Assists sales consultants with evaluating potential trades.
    • Establishes procedures for quick disposal of over-aged equipment.
  • Requirements:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) essential
    • Post -secondary education in sales and marketing preferred
    • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in business preferred
    • Experience in heavy equipment sales preferred
    • Management/supervisory experience preferred
    • Four to ten years related experience and/or training
    • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM
    • Ability to read and interpret financial data including income statements and balance sheets is preferred
    • Familiarity with advertising mediums, terms, success rates, etc.
    • Ability to use budget forecasting and trend analysis techniques is preferred
    • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 kg and carry short distances
    • Must be able to climb into and out of heavy equipment in the yard or on work sites
    • Some travel will be required on all forms of commercial transportation to review potential purchases, attend training courses or meetings, evaluate existing inventory, or meet with current and potential customers.
