The Environmental Health & Knowledge Translation Scientist
will primarily be working with the National Collaborating Center for Environmental Health (NCCEH) team. The NCCEH
( www.ncceh.ca ) provides evidence informed recommendations to support health practitioners and the public in mitigating and adapting to risks found in the physical environment. This is a national web platform that relies heavily on digital communications for outreach and connection to stakeholders and end users. NCCEH activities will inform and support health/environmental planning in built and community environments (from urban cores to suburbs to remote and First Nations communities) in order to improve population wellness. As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.

As the Environmental Health & Knowledge Scientist with the NCCEH, your responsibilities also include:
- Create knowledge translation products for practice and policy-making in environmental public health.
- Build new, and fortify existing, collaborations with partners and stakeholders.
- Focus on environmental public health practice areas concerning food safety, personal services and other public facilities settings, environmental contaminants and hazards.
- Manage and foster growth of the NCCEH-BCCDC Healthy Built Environment Forum and related built environment projects.
What you bring
- Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing complex research findings concerning health and the built environment, with particular emphases on environmental, social and health interventions that reduce the likelihood of virus transmission.
- Creating Knowledge Translation documents by applying best evidence and practices through knowledge translation and implementation science theories, frameworks, models and tools. These knowledge products are succinct summaries with policy options and practice guidance and are tailored and contextualized to specific audiences.
- Creating and fostering collaborations within public health and other disciplines including architects and space planners.
- Organizing webinars with experts from various disciplines for knowledge exchange and mobilization on environmental public health topics and issues, as well as the built environment webinar series.
You will have demonstrated ability to:
- Master of Science in a discipline related to Environmental Health
- Five (5) years' of recent, related experience.
