Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Electrician/Maintenance Worker to join the Plant Maintenance team at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC.  Apply today to join our team!

 

As an Electrician with VCH you will:

  • Perform skilled electrical work at the Journeyman Level in installing, constructing, altering, repairing, maintaining, and servicing electrical equipment and systems.
  • Perform maintenance and repair duties in a variety of areas related to buildings, grounds and equipment as required.

Scheduled trips to Bella Bella and Bella Coola may be required to support operational needs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 10, plus two years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of B.C.

  • Fire alarm experience preferred

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
