Position: Electrical Designer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Responsibility and Authority

Generic Tasks

  • Strive to maintain a high standard of skill in the utilization of design tools in order to conduct design studies as required in support of sales, production and warranty work
  • Work co-operatively with co-workers to ensure that the department provides timely, high-quality electrical electronics system drawings and designs that meet the company’s internal and external customer requirements and conform to accepted engineering practices
  • Constantly seek to improve vessel design and to enhance end-product quality, function and constructibility
  • Liaise with customers, co-workers an other sources as required to meet the company’s commitments of quality, performance, price and delivery, with
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the tools of the trade, particularly computerized design tools and design calculations
  • Interact with clients, supplier, and co-workers in a professional manner – always promote a positive perception of the company
  • Take responsibility for the quality of work produced – use initiative to manage assigned tasks so that they are completed successfully and meet or exceed the company standards
  • Encourage and promote a dialogue with production that results in constructive feedback for product improvement
  • Maintain electronic (and/or hardcopy) records of all work, including drawing issuance, communications and documentation as per the departmental standards
  • Periodically track project hours for your work using electronic time sheets and other reporting mechanisms as required by the management operating system
  • Report to and assist the Engineering Manager / Senior Design Engineer as required

Responsibility and Authority

 Specific Tasks

  • Responsible for the electrical / electronic system design and electronics interface of boats between 4 to 12m, by contributing on the definition, review process, project management, creating BOM, drawings, part numbers, description, and performing the necessary analysis, as EMI, or FMEA. The design and modifications to these systems to be in accordance with industry standards as ABYC, TC and ISO standards
  • Familiar with design software, as AutoCAD with minimum of 1-2 years of working experience. Knowledge and familiarity with hardware electronics and their interface in marine applications will be an additional asset
  • Provide technical support to Purchasing, Warranty, and Sales department, when is required
  • In coordination with the Eng. & Manager/Senior Des. Engineer, and Technical / R&D / Purchasing department
  • Constantly improve quality and efficiency of company production by proposing new designs and new products available on the market
