As the Economist you will beaccountable forprovidingeconomic expertise and applying economic tools/theory to model the passenger transportation industry in BC. As part of an economics team lead by a Senior Economist, this position will contribute to the design and implementation of complex statistical, economic modelling, and policy analysis projects in an administrative law framework. Strong data and statistical analysis skills are required, along with the use of econometric theory and techniques.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Education & Experience:
  • A Master's Degree in Economics or closely related field such as statistics, commerce, or mathematics or equivalent. Preference may be given to candidates with a Master's Degree or PhD in Economics.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of statistical analysis and economic modelling projects.

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in:
  • Using Structural Query Language (SQL), PowerBI, or R
  • Performing time-series and cross-sectional econometric analyses
  • Synthesizing and critiquing empirical economic studies
  • Performing microeconomic analyses of policy questions related to transportation and regulations
  • Conducting cost-and-benefit analyses
