Freedom Boat Club is the North America’s oldest and largest private member boat club and we are currently looking to add a highly customer-focused person to our dock staff. The position will require weekend and holiday hours.
Part time 20-30 hrs per week.
Join Freedom Boat Club BC, located at Canoe Cove Marina in North Saanich as a dock staff team member and enjoy working around boats and boaters!
We are looking for a dynamic individual to handle boat reservations, assist club members on and off the boats, and clean and prepare boats for the next member as they return from a day on the water.
As a member of the Freedom Boat Club Dock Staff you will be responsible for 2 primary activities:
- Servicing and assisting club members who will be utilizing the club's boats
- Cleaning, maintaining, docking, and fuelling of the club's boats
More specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist members and guests with loading and unloading belongings from boats
- Conducting thorough check-in and check-out procedures for members who use club boats
- Maintaining club boats in a high state of cleanliness and readiness
- Fueling boats as needed
- Ensuring dock equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and organized at all times
- Communicating with members cell phones
- Monitoring operations to ensure the members are safely and proficiently operating boats
Dock staff position must meet all criteria below:
- Has the ability to work outside during hot weather while performing demanding tasks such as washing and waxing boats, lifting and carrying heavy objects, frequent standing, kneeling.
- Has a good working attitude and discipline at work.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with members, comprehend basic instructions, and correspond effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to proactively carry out the functions of the job without direct supervision being required.
- Boating experience is highly preferred and preferential consideration will be given to those with adequate boating abilities.
- Personality/ Customer service mindset - The company exists to provide excellent customer service to our members so they can enjoy the services of the club. A customer focused mindset is required, as is the ability to deal calmly and pleasantly with members of the club.
- Ability to swim - due to the nature of the job it is required that all employees be able to swim.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.50 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Experience:
- Boating: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC - must have/get) (preferred)
