About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Human Resources to join our team in Haisla, BC on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Deputy CAO, the Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing, and managing all projects that improve HR systems, policies, and programs
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention
  • Overseeing the administration of HR programs including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law
  • Providing leadership and human resource guidance to the HR Manager, Program Managers, and employees with respect to preparing reports, evaluations, employee contracts, organizational charts, employee relations, career development, compensation, recruitment, retention, and performance management
  • Ensuring the organizations' compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and regulations
  • Facilitating professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff
  • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff; handling discipline and termination of department employees
  • Overseeing daily operations of the department, including budget creation
  • Identifying staffing and recruiting needs; developing and executing best practices for hiring and talent management
More About You 

In order to qualify for this role, you will possess a University Degree in Human Resources, Education, or another relevant field, as well as a minimum 5 years of experience in a senior Human Resources management position. Preference will be given to candidates with a Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR) designation.

As our ideal candidate, you will also join us with:

  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to clear a Criminal Records Check
  • Proficiency in MS Office, as well as HRIS and talent management systems
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees
  • Organization, prioritization, and delegation skills
