Kinsmen Lodge

The Kinsmen Lodge is a non-profit, government funded complex care home for seniors requiring long-term nursing care. Governed by the Whalley & District Senior Citizens Housing Society, the Kinsmen Lodge has a rich and proud history of serving Elders in the Surrey community since 1975. Located across from Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey, BC, Kinsmen Lodge is a champion of the Eden AlternativeTM, a principle- based philosophy to transform institutional approaches to care into a community where life is worth living.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Care is responsible for the provision, coordination and supervision of all nursing services; managing new admissions, providing clinical education and ensuring current care standards and practices are maintained. The Director of Care assumes responsibility for the operation of the Facility in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer, in consultation with the Leadership Team and takes call one week per month.

The ideal candidate will have at least ten (10) years of clinical experience, with five (5) years in a Complex Care setting and five (5) years in administration and management in healthcare. S/he will be registered with CRNBC and have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Certificate in Gerontology and/or advanced studies from an approved Health Care Administration Program.

As the Director of Care, s/he will be a strategic and operational leader with a blend of experience in complex program management and service delivery in a blended union and non-union setting. S/he will be committed to contributing to a positive and effective organizational culture and will demonstrate outstanding communication and team-building skills.
