About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary, strategic, and community-focused leader to guide one of British Columbia's most respected public libraries. Reporting to the Board, the Chief Librarian & Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and long-term sustainability of the West Vancouver Memorial Library, providing strategic direction for library services, governance, organizational planning, people and culture, financial stewardship, community engagement, and stakeholder relations.

The Chief Librarian & Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board, senior leadership team, municipal partners, and community stakeholders to advance the library’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities. As the Library's primary representative and advocate, the role fosters strong relationships across government, the library sector, educational institutions, community organizations, and Indigenous partners while championing equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and reconciliation throughout the organization.

The position leads a dedicated and high-performing team while ensuring innovative, responsive, and community-centred services that meet the evolving needs of West Vancouver residents. The successful candidate will bring a collaborative leadership style, a commitment to public service, and a demonstrated ability to inspire teams, cultivate partnerships, and guide organizational growth and innovation.

The salary range for this role is $159,000 - $189,000 annually supplemented by a competitive total compensation package administered by the District of West Vancouver, including the Municipal Pension Plan and comprehensive benefits
