About this Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Finance - Corporate, this position is primarily responsible for the overall management of the finance operations of BC, working closely with the operations team, to ensure timely and accurate financial results and effective financial controls. The Director, Finance - BC will work with the FP&A and corporate finance teams to ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements, including development of annual business plans. Provides leadership and direction to the team, ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example, and provides a supportive learning environment.

What You'll Get to DO!

    • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with Crown corporation and regulator
    • Leads the BC finance team, and provides financial leadership to BC operations team
    • Works closely with the operations team and collaborates with the corporate finance team, the development team, and other departments to ensure complete and accurate recording and monitoring of financial results.
    • Helps design, implements, and monitors key financial and operational controls to ensure an effective control environment.Reviews the Company's weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial results and through the financial results review, identifies and corrects any errors (such as missed accruals)
    • Has a deep understanding of the Operating agreements that each BC properties operate under, and related key terms and reporting deadlines
    • Works directly with external auditors on the execution of the annual audited IFRS financial statements of the Parent entity as well as other audit requirements
    • Assists with the identification of accounting issues and assessment of accounting impact under IFRS standards
    • Assists with all internal and external reporting requirements
    • Assists with annual budget process and the preparation of forecasts
    • Liaises with senior management, operations management, and outside stakeholders to ensure operational business objectives are established and aligned with corporate strategic objectives
    • Responsible for the preparation and submission of the Annual Strategic Plan, Annual Business Plan, and Minimum investment requirement reporting required by the Crown corporation
    • Assists with treasury functions including the implementation of cash management and liquidity forecasting
    • Develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports
    • Ability to work in a disbursed environment and support teams geographically, currently across the province of BC
    • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate departments
    • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and employees)
    • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations

What you'll need to be Successful!

    • CPA designation required
    • Proficiency in IFRS
    • Minimum 8 years of post-certification experience. Controller experience an asset
    • Exceptional intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to act with considerable independence, discretion and judgement.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with executive and senior management team.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.
    • Computer literacy in MS Office and ERP software (experience JD Edwards an asset
