Job Title: DIET CLERK, PATIENT FOOD SERVICES, C&W Requisition #: 185572 Job Location: Canada-British Columbia-Vancouver Department: Patient Food In-House Job Type: Regular, Part Time Start Date of Employment: 14-Jul-2025 Posting Date: 01-Jul-2025 Work Days: Mon, Tue, Wed, Sun, Hours of Work: 1445-1845 Work Site: 4500 Oak Street, Vancouver Salary/Rate: $24.34/Hour Job Summary: In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Under the close supervision of the Dietary Technician/Supervisor, the Diet Clerk receives patient orders using a pre-populated menu and submits the order for preparation, ensuring that patients have a positive experience. The role performs a variety of clerical duties related to the maintenance of patient dietary records and related tallying, copying and printing. Duties/Accountabilities: 1. Processes patient food and beverage orders by: a. Answering incoming calls and verifying caller with patient record information. b. Placing patient order in food and beverage ordering system(s) by selecting prepopulated menu item(s) as per the patient's dietary eligibility that is predetermined by the patient's direct care practitioner(s). c. Providing alternative menu item(s) based on eligibility. d. Escalating complex or non-routine dietary orders and to Dietary Technician/Supervisor. e. Submitting order ticket to CBORD or Room Service Choice computer program. 2. Updates dietary records daily as required by patient transfers and dietary orders. Prints and distribute menus based on the needs of each patient unit. 3. Answers telephones; transfers calls, takes messages or answers routine enquiries. Communicates with food service production department on patient needs and service requirements. Escalates to Dietary Technician/Supervisor as required. 4. Maintains filing system for correspondence and departmental records. 5. Maintains statistical records such as patient meals prepared, and prepares and prints summary totals for food preparation as required. 6. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certificate in Food Safe Level 1. Skills and Abilities • Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m. • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Ability to deal with others effectively. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to operate related equipment.
