This regular full-time (35 hours per week) position is available starting November 2, 2020. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Flexible or modiﬁed schedule may be considered based on operational requirements.
Travel and occasional work arrangements at our New Westminster campus will be required, as will occasional evening and/or weekend work.

Under general direction and in consultation with the Manager, Philanthropic Relations, this position provides leadership and support to the College, its community, volunteers, faculty and other employees, in identifying, researching, cultivating, developing and pursuing funding for identiﬁed needs within the College. Provides exceptional client-centered service on a consistent basis to all stakeholder groups.Responsibilities
1. Performs a variety of fundraising and administrative functions.
a. assists in providing leadership and direction in setting and achieving fundraising goals and objectives within the College;
b. works independently with donors and prospects, develops proposals for funding, and works to achieve fund-raising goals;
c. establishes and maintains the Corporate Giving and Sponsorship Program;
d. works as part of a team for Foundation and Alumni Relations special events, activities and initiatives;
e. works independently on corporate and individual donor initiatives;
f. establishes and maintains ongoing communication between individuals, corporations, associations, faculty, administrators and other College staff and students relating to development of fundraising projects and solicitation of selected prospects for the funding of those projects;
g. establishes and maintains contacts on behalf of the College with a wide variety of corporate and individual donors, and potential or actual sources of funding;
h. prepares written informational, marketing and soliciting materials as required, along with correspondence with donors, prospects, board members, and other contacts;
i. coordinates and plans marketing and communication materials for fundraising operations;
j. leads the planning, organizing and implementing Special Events and activities;
k. provides management, organizational and functional support related to the organization of capital campaigns, and management of ongoing fundraising programs;
l. serves as administrative link and maintains ongoing communication with other College departments to co-ordinate efforts and activities; provides advice and support to faculty and administration in pursuit of funding for program or project needs;
m. analyzes and plans office functions to increase efficiency and effectiveness including assessment and implementation of new technology, review and recommending improvement of procedures and policies and response to requests for advice, counsel and information;
n. maintains professional currency with respect to charitable regulations, practices and fundraising activities;
o. maintains records of contacts and activities, producing reports as required;
p. selects and monitors consultants and contractors.
2. Supervises the daily operation of positions under her/his responsibility.
a. applies the BCGEU collective agreement to daily decision-making within established standards;
b. hires and evaluates staff including providing orientation and ensuring the provision of appropriate training and professional development;
c. provides input into staff job descriptions;
d. approves staff work schedules and time sheets;
e. coordinates and approves vacation schedules and other absences;
f. ensures adequate coverage for areas within responsibility, within existing budget parameters.
3. Performs other related duties.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
1. Completion of a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of related fundraising experience. An equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience may be considered;
2. Demonstrated knowledge in:
• National standards of ethical fundraising, best practice, policies and related guidelines;
• Emerging issues, trends, programs and opportunities in fundraising, locally, nationally and internationally;
• Canada Revenue Agency guidelines and other legislation and/or regulations pertaining to fundraising and/or not-for-proﬁts;
• Freedom of Information and Privacy Act;
• Conducting prospect identiﬁcation and research;
• Fundraising systems and/or CRM (i.e. Raiser's Edge, NXT or another similar system);
• Operations and project management; including maintaining and updating conﬁdential ﬁles and information systems.
3. Demonstrated ability to:
• Create strong relationships and building philanthropic commitment between constituents and the organization or institution;
• Effectively represent and promote the Foundation's interests to members of the college and external community;
• Develop and implement comprehensive plans for identifying, soliciting, and stewarding annual giving level prospects and donors for assigned
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing, with tact and diplomacy; o Exercise discretion and diplomacy using sound judgment with pertinent and sensitive information;
• Draft and edit correspondence, case statements, proposals and other communication pieces,
• Supervise staff, students and volunteers;
• Oversee campaigns from inception to execution including: development and implementation of giving strategy plans for speciﬁc campaigns, soliciting prospects and donors, and ensuring acknowledgment and stewardship programs are in place;
• Work with constituents through the entire fundraising cycle;
• Manage and coordinate activities that involve volunteers, students and employees;
• Work independently within strict timelines without direct supervision and to report effectively on progress and outcomes;
• Effectively organize, initiate and control work ﬂow and recognize, analyze and resolve problems;
• Effectively plan, coordinate & oversee events and meetings;
• Proﬁciently use software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
4. Must have reliable transportation to be able to travel between campuses and to off-campus meetings.
5. Ability to work a varied work schedule including evenings, as required and occasional weekends.
