As a member of the Voice Services DevOps, you will be responsible for both TDM voice and VoIP traffic optimization planning to support Voice network optimization and to contribute to cross functional teams by developing impact assessments and implementing traffic engineering solutions in support of TELUS traffic efficiency and cost savings

Be part of a team that is accountable for the timely development, communication and implementation of WLS & WLN voice traffic modeling & optimization and various assessments that directly impact the quality, reliability and cost savings of our voice network.

These traffic/trunk optimization plans and modeling provide the capacity and reliability required and expected by our customers. YOU will support and align with corporate objectives and strategies within the constraints of regulatory requirements, utilization and modernization objectives.

Here's how
    •Monitor trend and analyze network trunk utilization and develop traffic optimization plan, etc., for the national voice networks both WLS and WLN (ILEC/CLEC, Local/IXC, IP Trunking) •Understand the cost structure of the traffic originating and terminating based on tariff, peering, bi-lateral settlement; develop recommendations to prevent network trunk and traffic congestions and to achieve cost saving •Work with IP Engineer and/or Switch Engineer to define VoIP NGN network utilization metrics; plan Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) inter-carrier interconnection builds; develop requirements, performance reports for the VoIP networks including major client networks •Develop analytical traffic modeling to optimize network flow distribution considering cost, reliability and efficiency; assist in maintaining an accurate and reliable Trunking and Routing database •Working knowledge of Next generation network, VoIP, Carrier-Peering and Commercial arrangements •Develop traffic planning & Engineering of system enhancement support including TVIM, NOCM & SPLUNK •Design network routing solutions that add value to TELUS's customers, reduce operating costs, and ensure that the service to the existing customer base is not negatively impacted by the addition of protections against the bad network robocalling behaviors.


You're the missing piece of the puzzle

    •Knowledge of Traffic Engineering, Traffic modeling, fixed and variable costs modeling and enhanced voice and data network services and applications •Knowledge in various predictive modeling and data mining techniques using supporting tools such as SPLUNK and/or Tableau to ensure effective solutions to traffic planning •Hands-on experience in SAS (Statistical Analysis System), Hive, Python, SQL or any other data query language on UNIX/PC and comfortable working with large data sets and databases •Understanding of VoIP protocols and next generation multimedia architecture - SIP, RTP, ENUM, SIGTRAN, IMS, CSCF, MGW, SBC, etc •Willingness to provide sample technical documentation, oral presentation of technical material, and working-level formative documents •3+ years of relevant experience •University Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science or Telecommunications preferred

    •Work experience with database systems, and monitoring tool(s)
