Design Concept Pattern Maker, Veilance

Job purpose: Designs and creates advanced concepts and comprehensive product solutions in 3D pattern form that ensure product collections are in line with Veilance design philosophies and customer needs.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
    • Interpret creative design intent by creating block pattern concepts and muslins for future seasonal product needs within the Design Concept window on I2P calendar
    • Provide trend research on silhouette direction to the design team based on seasonal product needs
    • Work with design to establish fit direction based on product category and end use, ensuring products follow base size and fit consistency
    • Contribute and maintain the use of Design concept block pattern library
    • Provide suggestions on smart methods of drafting patterns on the front end of design, to ensure production efficiency and feasibility in cutting and sewing
    • Drive the commercialization of innovative technologies and concepts including pattern/part shaping and construction techniques for existing and/or future product categories up until pass off to the Product Development team
    • Execute assigned projects within seasonal time lines
    • Provide detailed product block concept to Product Development / Pattern team, including completed pattern file and fit direction
    • Collaborate closely with other Designers to create and bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, drafting methods, etc.)
    • Continue to stay up to date with industry trends to help ensure Arc'teryx is exceeding our customers evolving needs
    • Attend fittings throughout the development process to provide guidance and direction to Product Development team
    • Collaborate with Creative Director and Design Operations Manager on seasonal line plans and project resource planning

Additional experience, education and/or skills:
    • Degree in Apparel Design
    • Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in Patternmaking relevant textile-based products
    • Excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision and mentor and develop team members
    • Technically proficient with 10 years of experience using Gerber, Lectra or equivalent pattern software, with additional experience in 3D patternmaking programs
    • Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written
    • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
    • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
