Position Overview:

The BCX (Business Customer Experience) team is making an investment in the Integrated Data Environment and Analytics (IDEA) team to focus on delivering business mission critical data and analysis, to drive continuous business efficiency improvements and achieve best in class customer experience. Your role will be to identify, develop, and present key analysis, storytelling, data modelling, and analytic visualizations to provide insights and support critical decision making in strategic programs across BCX. As a strong data scientist, you will be able to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured big data, utilizing your knowledge in statistics, data mining, pattern recognition, visualization, and predictive analytics.


Responsibilities will be based on both business-led initiative requirements and analyst-led exploratory data interpretations and research that will support strategic initiatives. As a key data scientist, you will:
    •Use your data and analytical ability to find and interpret rich unstructured data sources to cultivate a fact-based, data-driven decision making culture
    •Manage, merge, correlate, and find consistency and patterns in large amounts of data
    •Build best-in-class mathematical/statistical models using big data to develop predictive analytics and M2M Algorithms
    •Synthesize analytical and modeling findings/insights to conceptualize and communicate key drivers and relationships between multiple data sets to support strategic decisions
    •Create visualizations (e.g. Tableau) to aid in understanding data and provide the business with self-serve analytical tools
    •Develop and communicate topics such as calculus based analytics to various stakeholders
    •Present and communicate the data insights/findings using thought leadership through dashboards and presentations, influencing and providing recommendations to manager, directors, and VPs
    •Lead collaborative team of stakeholders, acting as a business consultant to help recommend and define key performance measures, ensuring high quality of repeatability and reproducibility of data


Required Knowledge:
    •Big data storage and processing tool such as Hadoop, PIG or Spark
    •Statistical/predictive analytics tools such as SAS and R
    •Visualization tools such as Tableau
    •ETL tools such as Lavastorm, Informatica, or NIFI, or similar
    •Knowledge of KPI development, executive presentations, reporting, and analytics
    •Strong knowledge in applications, systems, and assure/fulfill processes used by the BCX team is an asset

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong track record of self-sufficient motivation and high performance
    •Curiosity in data, processes, and in general for the world around you
    •Ability to influence others in presenting ideas and concepts; excellent written and communication skills with the ability to present information at all levels of the organization
    •Capacity to take initiative and ownership of issues and tasks through to resolution
    •Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good cross-functional working relationships with peers and business partners at multiple organizational levels
    •Ability to proactively hypothesize and perform data analysis to enable business problem resolution
    •Ability to deal with ambiguity and complex issues and concepts
    •Ability to react quickly and take advantage of changing business conditions

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •Relevant University degree and/or equivalent combination of experience and education
    •Degree or experience in statistics, business, and computer science is considered an asset

Required Experience:
    •A minimum of 5 years of related experience in a combination of predictive analytics, statistics, performance reporting, visualization, and data mining
    •Experience working in the Telecom or related industries would be considered an asset
    •Experience dealing/communicating effectively with leaders across different levels
    •Experience building effective working relationships with internal/external partners
