). The Project:
Global Relay processes vast amounts of data on behalf of our customers, which they require to be analyzed for patterns of communication across multiple communication platforms. Our customers are required to provide their regulators with demonstrations of compliance tools that monitor communication by their staff that might include many communication platforms for a single conversation. Currently our systems leverage traditional search methodologies (e.g. Boolean) based on pre-defined properties and apply this across multiple communications platforms. Increasing regulation requires our customers to evaluate message data and relationships in more sophisticated ways, to better identify risks and non-compliant behavior.
For instance, an employee for a finance firm might conduct a piece of business via email, public IM, SMS, and voice. In this case our systems can provide compliance tools that provide traditional search capabilities across the communication platform. This project would be to start developing compliance tools that support correlating and analyzing data to look for relationships, trends, and anomalies. For example, correlating voice calls to a trading desk to public IM messages from the same trading desk, in order to identify unusual patters of communication. The Role:
This is a Java Developer (Big Data) Co-Op position within Global Relay’s software development team. The primary responsibility of the role would be to implement a data analytics engine and application with a Hadoop software stack, under the guidance of senior developers and architects. This would also involve refining the requirements for the application in conjunction with product management. The role would be required to research different implementation options and present back to both the architects and product management staff a set of the most viable implementation options plus an assessment of how the technology options affect the requirements. Skills Needed:
- Strong core Java development skills
- Course work in, or experience with, Hadoop technology
- Course work in, or experience with, Spark framework
- Course work in, or experience with, Cassandra
- Experience with free text processing
