DiverseCity Community Resources Society has been providing essential to new immigrants across BC.
They are looking for a facilitator to deliver a 90 minute presentation on parenting to immigrant and refugee parents. The focus is parenting kids under 7 years of age. Since parenting is such a broad topic, here are some suggested topics to cover. Any topic or combination of topics would be appreciated.Volunteer Topics May Include
- Punishment vs discipline
- Punishment vs consequences
- Getting kids to start good behaviour and stop bad behaviour
- Self esteem and assertiveness
- Communicating with kids
- Establishing routines
- Separation anxiety
- Sibling rivalry
- The time for the group is Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 - 1:45 in July until mid September.
