Our client, an international leader in manufacturing is seeking a Cost Accountant to add to their growing team. 

To contribute to the overall efficient operations of the Finance department by maintaining the general ledger and month end close cycle, costings and analysis of performance. The role also comprises of handling or assisting the Controller in various projects within the organization. The role also requires meeting with different project managers, engineers and business partners to work on analysis on jobs and measuring the performance of these jobs

  1. Reviewing / Performing accounts reconciliation for Balance Sheet items;
  2. Analyze variances in the Income Statement and provide guidance to Controller on analysis performed;
  3. Manage month end closing with team members – subledgers (Inventory, Revenue, Jobs, WIP) and Ledger;
  4. Coaching Team members
  5. Projects – ERP upgrades
  6. Regulatory filings and disclosures

Job Description

Duties

  • Perform Month end closing and ensure that all subledgers were closed every period together with the Financial Accountant
  • Liaise with various departments to ensure closing is planned and done accordingly
  • Perform Account Reconciliations as assigned by the Controller
  • Employee inefficiency analysis and identify areas of concerns for Management
  • Review cycle count, full inventory count and adjustments in the system
  • Monitor the PO receiving with Supply Chain to ensure POs are posted on time to get accurate Financials
  • Work with the Controller on the Revenue Recognition and % Completions on Projects monthly
  • Assisting the Controller with Budgeting process and analysis required
  • Analysis on expenses for Material, Labour, Indirect costs, SG&A
  • Job and project analysis monthly
  • Experience in working with ERP Systems is required
  • Participate in Baseline meetings and provide information to the group for decision making on projects
  • Create and report KPIs agreed by Controller in line with objectives for Finance
  • Assist in Financials preparation monthly per company Standards and requirements of Management
  • Prepare data and reports for Audit
  • Working on various projects as assigned by Management or Controller
  • Partner with each department, define the needs and provide adequate support for analysis and decision making
  • Build and Maintain variance analysis for the Financial Reporting package
  • Assist Controller to prepare Executive Summary for Executives & Shareholder
  • Fixed Assets maintenance and registers
  • Assist Controller with the Cash Forecast, especially on milestone payments and AR

Experience and qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent
  • Business experience and 2+ years of experience ideally in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills

  • Working towards completion of the CPA designation is desirable
