Fantastic career opportunity with a Canadian private equity firm. This is a great role for a senior accounting & finance professional who enjoys variety and who wants to see all the inner workings of an ambitious and well-run business. The scope of this role is wide and spans full-cycle accounting, corporate tax, investor relations, fund reporting, fundraising, and general business management.
Who- the Company:
Our client is a very reputable private equity firm that is dedicated to growing local companies in their portfolio into larger and more successful companies. The firm is led by impressive leaders and they have built a notable portfolio of companies across several provinces and in various sectors. Swim Recruiting can provide much more insight into the people, scope, and business model of this firm.
What- the Role:
Our client is hiring for a Corporate Controller as the incumbent (placed by Swim Recruiting) is going on parental leave soon. The new Corp. Controller will be joining a tightknit team consisting of Managing Directors and VPs, as well as an Accountant who will directly support the Controller. This is a unique opportunity as the Controller will be working in a small corporate office that oversees a portfolio of companies which total significant revenues. In many ways this is a “best of both worlds” scenario. The Controller will have all the traditional accounting responsibilities- financial reporting & financial statements, forecasting & budgeting, management of the annual audit, corporate tax, AP & AR, etc. Additionally, the Controller will get involved in investor relations, fund reporting, fundraising, and general business management. This role has a wide and evolving scope. Swim Recruiting will provide interested candidates with a comprehensive job description.
Who- the Candidate:
Our ideal candidate will be a designated accountant with a diverse experience in full-cycle accounting gained through 8+ years progressive experience (with the last 5+ years at a senior level), including tenure within a relevant business such as a financial services firm, a fund accounting firm, or another private equity firm. Previous public practice training is preferred, and experience with corporate taxation is an asset. Professional development beyond the Canadian CPA will be viewed favourably, such as pursuit of in-depth tax courses, MBA, CBV, etc.
Competitive base salary commensurate with level and relevance of previous work experience. Please discuss further with Swim Recruiting.
When & How to Apply:
Swim Recruiting will be screening and shortlisting on behalf of our client and presenting suitable candidates directly to one of the Managing Director’s for review.
