Excellent career opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities and working with a friendly and close-knit accounting & finance team (designated CPAs). Successful real estate investment company headquartered in downtown Vancouver. Working from home during Covid-19 physical distancing.

Who- the Company:

Our client is a public company headquartered in Vancouver, with operations and subsidiary offices in the US. Swim Recruiting has placed 3 people with this company in the last few years, including someone who was previously in this role. We can give interested candidates insight into the great culture there, the collaborative team dynamic, and the variety of work. Working at this company is a “best of both worlds” scenario- a complex multi-national public company with sophisticated processes and systems, as well as an organization company with a tight-knit, small company vibe.

What- the Role:

Corporate Accountant, working on a close-knit team of 7 in accounting & finance (the team members collaborate a great deal and also have their own areas of expertise- budgeting & forecasting, financial reporting, tax, property accounting, etc.) This new employee will have a variety of corporate accounting responsibilities spanning financial statement preparation, intercompany reconciliation, consolidation support, journal entries, full-cycle AP and AR, cash reconciliation, preparing corporate tax returns, internal controls work, financial system optimization, and payroll processing. The latter is only around 15% of the role, and is more complex/interesting than it is high volume (approximately 20-employee and executive payroll in Canada and the US). If the hired individual has never processed payroll before, there will be training provided as the VP Finance has been doing it for several years.  Swim Recruiting will provide interested candidates with a thorough list of responsibilities.

Who- the Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this role is a CPA with training from a small or mid-size public practice firm following by a couple years in industry. That being said, we are open to candidates who have one or the other (only public practice or only industry), and individuals who are studying to achieve their CPA. Qualified candidates will have a diverse accounting skillset. The following are significant assets but not required: public company experience, real estate sector experience, financial services sector experience, US company experience, payroll processing experience, and hands-on experience with Yardi and payroll systems.  We are looking for well-rounded high-achievers with a track record of success in their career and education. Great communication skills and a team player attitude are both key.

How Much:

Base salary commensurate with experience, please discuss with Swim. There is also a performance-based bonus, immediate health and dental benefits, an annual health allowance, and professional development support.

Where:

Downtown Vancouver in the heart of the financial district. Beautiful newly renovated office with great views and an inviting, modern feel.  During Covid-19 physical distancing, employees are working remotely from home with full system access. The situation will be re-evaluated at some point in June.
