Island Health is seeking an experienced FULL-TIME Network Services Coordinator to join their Victoria, BC team.
As Coordinator, you are responsible for the Network Services’ projects including a cross functional team and financial resources, ensuring the successful delivery of network services in support of data, voice and video communications. You are involved in the planning and implementation of network infrastructure changes required in meeting new and evolving requirements. Along with providing day-to-day direction to the Network Services technical and clerical staff, you analyze reviews, create plans, prepare budgets and make recommendations regarding network infrastructure, services and processes.
About Network Services
Network Services provides all voice, data, wireless, and cellular services for Island Health. We have 2 offices; one at Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) and the other at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). Our voice and data services internally are almost exclusively Cisco hardware and systems for routing, switching, and voice gateways. Our voice infrastructure is CUCM 8.5, Unity and CCX. We also support Audio conferencing with CWMS and provide video conferencing bridging services. Voice and other network services are run on Cisco UCS with VMware.
The team is split into 3 levels. The Tech I team provides basic ticket triage and support Phone and Cellular requests. The Tech II team provides all field services including installation and configuration of network hardware and on site break/fix support. The Tech III team is our senior technical resources and provides engineering level support across all our technologies. The management team is the Network Manager and Senior Network Engineer. We are planning on creating Tech II and Tech I team leads as the department continues to grow. Additionally, we have a team of Solutions Architects that provide design and oversight including one dedicated as Network Architect.
Desired Skills & Experience
Ideally, along with your Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology/Sciences, you have 5 years’ recent related experience. Project Management training and ITIL certification is desirable. As a leader, your background demonstrates your ability to organize work, set priorities and provide effective work direction and mentorship. You work well independently and can successfully triage between multiple competing priorities. You have effective presentation, facilitating, and negotiating skills. You are able to remain current with new network technologies.
