Reporting to Senior Supervisor Regulatory, the Environmental Coordinator Compliance will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of compliance-related engagement processes (internal and external), including management and maintenance of the regulatory schedule, associated database administration and document review processes. The successful candidate will work as part of a cross-departmental team that works to maintain regulatory compliance and environmental management. The position requires collaboration with a variety of people from across the site and with external consultants and contractors. This role also requires a broad base of scientific knowledge, technical skills, and environmental project management experience.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with outstanding problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills; a motivated self-starter, who can remain organized and prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Collaborate closely other departments to ensure that the appropriate regulatory authorizations are in place to support the ongoing operation.
  • Develop and maintain a register of risks to regulatory approval and receipt of authorizations, and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Coordination of compliance reports/ annual report management and submission
  • Support internal and external report review processes
  • Support development and management of integrated schedule
  • Support annual planning meetings
  • Maintain and roll out of integrated schedule to Indigenous groups and stakeholders
  • Develop meeting framework
  • Prepare for and participate in engagement meetings
  • Support sampling and monitoring programs for environmental compliance
  • Support air and climate related activities including monitoring and reporting;
  • Support the implementation and operation of environmental management systems;
  • Develop and review regulatory compliance and sustainability reports;
  • Support engagement with Indigenous governments and organizations
  • General duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Earth Sciences (Biology, Geography, Geology, Forestry, Agriculture), or Natural Resource field
  • Minimum five years of experience in the field of environmental compliance or monitoring, in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental and waste legislation, standards, and effective industry practices
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, with the ability to safely operate different equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently with nominal supervision and work independently in outdoor remote locations

Salary Range: $93,000 - $115,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
