POSITION: Controller - Contract Position ( 1 year)



Manage the overall financial health of the company and provide data/analysis to support key financial business decisions. The core components are:

  • Managing and projecting cash flow
  • Future forecasting of income and expense
  • Preparing and interpreting reports, budgets, accounts, and financial statement
  • Analysis of scenarios, projects, future cash expendituresAnalyze and prepare key data to provide support for educated business decisions
  • Reviewing services and costs
  • Advisor team budgeting and reporting
  • Research costs and expenses for projects
  • Create, develop and monitor budgets
  • Flex cap
  • Developing and managing financial systems/models
  • Analyze premise cost allocation


Management and organization of all financial transactions to ensure business is running efficiently and all current data is available to support the financial management reporting. The core components are:

  • Irregular transactions (bookkeeping)
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual Journal Entries
  • Monthly Rent invoicing
  • Chargeback allocations
  • Prepare monthly Fees & Insurance advisor payouts
  • Year End Accounting
  • Supervise accounting administrator role
  • Implement new systems and processes
  • Maintain relationship with company accountants

Human Resources

Be a central resource by providing guidance, advice and support to all members of Branch on all HR related items on an individual. The core components are:

  • Payroll processing for all staff
  • Support and assist planners and staff with all payroll questions and calculations
  • Organize all new staff with payroll and benefits
  • HR Manual update and review
  • MSP Group plan – process new employees and reconcile monthly amounts
  • Act as liaison for Group Benefits with office and head office
  • Key person for knowledge of legislations, law and practices
  • Keep current with new info and forms
  • Communicate with Employment lawyers, HR Consultants for our needs

AVC Legal/Governance


  • Keep all company insurance contracts current and review annually
  • Complete all insurance renewals
  • Liase with insurance brokers
  • Responsible for claims made with client contracts
  • Work with Secretary (Chair) on Corporate Governance
  • Do minutes for Board Meetings
  • Prepare reports and agendas for Governance Committee
  • Maintain current legal records
  • Maintain relationship with Owen Bird

Operations & Office Management

Supervise all operations of the company to ensure the floor runs smoothly and is being regularly managed. Along with that be the lead manager on branch held events. The core components are:

  • Project Manager for all special office projects
  • Manage budgets for all special projects
  • Event Manager; supervise Office Administrator and oversee all branch functions
  • Communication between office, Management & vendors
  • Work with Office Administrator/Receptionist to ensure regular tasks are being handled regularly
  • Keep schedule and recurring processes and follow up to make sure completion is made
  • Liase with building on issues or needs from our floor

Joint Team Management

Along with the Branch Manager provide necessary organization, communication and promote a healthy and successful team environment. The core components are:

  • Posting job ads or go through personnel agencies for all new staff hires
  • Interviewing and hiring new Corporate staff
  • Salary reviews of Corporate staff
  • Performance Reviews of Corporate staff
  • Provide emergency back up of all tasks
  • Vacation and sick tracking of team
  • IT Management

Supervise all IT of the company to ensure the floor runs smoothly and is being regularly managed. Along with that be the lead manager on branch held events. The core components are:

  • Support Office Administrator with handling daily IT issues
  • Research and enhance new IT Initiatives
  • Give approval for permission and access to systems
  • Work with external IT regularly to receive updates and provide direction
