Contracts/Subcontracts Specialist - GSI

Position Description:

We are looking for a Contracts/Subcontracts Specialist to join our close-knit team in MDA Geospatial Services (GSI). In this role, you will provide specialist services for contractual matters relating to the formation and administration of agreements required to support the company with area pursuits and active programs. This is a great role for someone looking to increase their knowledge of contract and commercial management while working with a highly knowledgeable and dedicated team.

  • Provide thorough and timely reviews of documents (e.g., contracts, proposals, cost estimates) related to our business ventures, identifying and evaluating commercial risk to the company
  • Prepare contractual documents (e.g., Non-Disclosure Agreements, Limited Distribution Agreements, Demonstration License Agreements) for submission to other parties
  • Review, advise, and provide inputs on contractual requirements related to Requests for Proposals
  • Create succinct contract summaries to enable team members to execute contracts in accordance with specified requirements
  • Prepare reports and correspondence to support internal and external reporting and compliance requirements
  • Follow the company's processes (e.g., approval process, contractual guidelines) in the execution of duties and tasks
  • Maintain accurate, easily accessible and complete records of the company's contractual and business matters related to your assigned scope of work activities
  • Keep immediate manager and other internal stakeholders apprised of business risk issues

  • Strong interest to work in the contractual/legal profession, with the ability to manage higher-complexity contractual/legal documents on a progressive basis
  • Post-secondary graduation from a recognized institute of technology, or a university degree is an asset. Preference will be given to those with credentials in the field of Accounting, Business, Law or Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency working in a Windows and MS Office environment
  • Excellent proofreading skills, including the ability to review documents (e.g., contracts, proposals, cost estimates) for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and conformance to company standards
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and tight deadlines, and to work on multiple assignments concurrently
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Strong document management skills (e.g., drafting letters, filing documents in accordance with company protocol, maintaining proper document version control)
  • Must be able to secure Controlled Good Program (CGP) and NATO Secret security clearances

Assets :
  • Ability to understand technical matters (e.g., statements of work)
  • Directly related commercial experience in industry or government with demonstrated progression in responsibilities an asset
  • Familiarity with Government standard acquisition regulations and standard terms, such as SACC, DFAR, FAR and DEFCON requirements, and export regulations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and have excellent presentation, due diligence, negotiation and collaboration skills
