Work Arrangements
The Communications Department is currently seeking to hire a contract instructor for CMNS 3200: Professional Editing and a contract instructor for CMNS 3400: Document Design.

1 section of each course will be offered in the Winter 2020 semester (January 6, 2020 - April 28, 2020).

CMNS 3200 is offered on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:20 pm.

CMNS 3400 is offered on Fridays from 12:30 to 3:20 pm.

Some flexibility is available in scheduling.

Available sections are identified each year.

The Role
Contract Instructor in Professional Communication


As a contract instructor in Professional Communication, you would be responsible for:

- developing course outlines following the Curriculum Guidelines,
- selecting appropriate textbooks and creating teaching materials,
- delivering quality learner-centred instruction in editing and in design,
- designing assignments and assessment criteria,
- evaluating student progress,
- holding regular office hours,
- participating in curriculum revisions and development,
- if possible, attending program meetings, and
- maintaining currency in the field through regular professional development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
Successful applicants will have:

- a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Professional Communication, or related field,
- a minimum of two years of experience teaching courses at the post-secondary level preferred,
- prior experience teaching editing or design software in a lab,
- a track record of successful projects,
- membership and active participation in relevant professional associations, and
- demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a collegial and respectful manner.
