Work Arrangements
The English Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to expand its list of contract instructors qualified to teach ( QTT ) first-year courses in academic writing and literature.

We anticipate having contract work available in the Winter 2023 semester.

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
The English Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to expand its list of contract instructors qualified to teach ( QTT ) first-year courses in academic writing and literature.

Responsibilities

As a contract instructor in the English Department, you will

- develop course outlines following curriculum guidelines,
- select appropriate textbooks and create teaching materials,
- deliver high-quality learner-centred instruction,
- design assignments and assessment criteria,
- evaluate student progress,
- hold regular office hours, and
- maintain currency in the field through regular professional development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
The successful candidates will have:
- A minimum of a Master's degree in English Literature or equivalent (Ph.D. preferred)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching post-secondary credit courses, preferably in both academic writing and literature
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative, self-directedness, ability to work well with others, and
- evidence of ongoing professional development.

Evidence of online teaching experience would be an asset.
