Content Writer & Strategist -

Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Site Experience, the Content Writer & Strategist is an integral member of the BuildDirect marketing team with experience in understanding the importance of marketing content for inbound and outbound marketing and demand generation.

Your copy-writing and editing skills are amazing, and you have a proven track record of developing new, inventive, and creative content across all channels. We work in the lightning-paced world of a start-up, and things move fast, but you have an amazing fun team to support you on this exciting journey.

With this position you will own the content development and delivery for our Blog and Learning Center and will work very closely with contractors for content strategy and an agency for content delivery.

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of weekly blog and learning center posts, email and campaign content, landing page content, e-newsletters, e-books, sales enablement content, video content and social media content (as needed) as well as oversight of our inspiration gallery
  • Collaborate with our agency and external writers to help develop our content strategy and execute on it
  • Oversee the content calendar to ensure it is aligned with our goals\
  • Perform content audits as required to ensure optimization of the high performing content
  • Write high converting copy for various marketing initiatives across B2B and B2C audiences
  • Review and edit copy from third party content creators, ensure it is optimized for SEO and link-building
  • Fact check and proof read materials for grammatical and material accuracy
  • Ensure we are developing high converting copy for various marketing initiatives across our audiences, develop and implement strategies for conversion
  • Become a steward of our brand tone of voice, follow style guides and ensure all written materials meet industry and editorial standards
  • Establish integrated campaigns that drive traffic to content assets by leveraging search, social media, landing pages, product pages, advertising and more
  • Keep up with the latest in conventional and new media to ensure we harness the latest techniques, tactics and technologies
  • Identify and optimize best performing content and channels for delivery to ensure focus of content development
  • Measure and report on the success of content assets and KPIs weekly, communicate on strategy/project development, timelines, and results
  • Collaborate with the marketing automation team to help with content for email sends
  • Work with the merchandising and marketing automation team to ensure campaigns are aligned with the email calendar

What You Need to Know
  • 3- 5+ years of content marketing/demand generation experience at a technology/e-commerce company, digital agency or related
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills, strong editorial and creative skills, with the ability to craft and edit messaging
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and oral
  • Ability to manage third party vendors to achieve business goals
  • An understanding of SEO as well as link management and link building experience
  • An understanding of social media and experience with Hootsuite with ability to develop, craft social content
  • Experience with Pardot, Google Analytics, Salesforce, WordPress is a plus
  • Experience delivering content that works for B2B and B2C audiences
  • The ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines; includes strong multitasking skills
  • High threshold for delivering in an ambiguous, fast paced environment – figuring it out and adapting as you go
  • Able to work independently on projects and also collaborate as a team member A willingness to roll up sleeves to get it done, have a strong sense of urgency and commitment

  • Bachelor’s degree required
