ARC Programs is currently accepting applications for two full-time L.I.F.E. Community Support Workers based out of Kelowna.
The L.I.F.E. Program is a flexible, responsive, and community-based program that provides individuals over nineteen who currently receive adult services and/or support through Community Living BC (CLBC) in obtaining and maintain employment.
Hours >
Full-Time, permanent position based on 37.5hrs / week.
Responsibilities >
The level of support individuals receive will be flexible and vary in frequency, intensity, and focus depending on where their confidence levels are at regarding the goals that they have identified and are working on
Specific Duties Include:
- Provide direct intervention, consultation, education, counselling, and support services for referred adults under the LIFE program framework: Learning, Inclusion, Friendship and Education.
- Work directly with the adult’s family and/or existing community supports as required.
- Providing a personalized approach in goal planning and service development.
- Work with adults to support them in the areas of community living skills development, interpersonal relation, recreation and use of leisure time opportunities, vocational development and employment, educational development, self-advocacy, and community inclusion (access to non-disability related social resources) under the LIFE program framework.
- Will work to identify individuals needs in the areas of relationships, community connection/contributions, lifelong learning, and employment (Learning, Inclusion, Friendships, Employment).
- Support individuals in addressing needs and working towards goals in the above areas.
- Support individuals in achieving goals in the areas of life that they want to address, in addition, individuals will be supported in identifying and achieving the difference or impact they are looking for in their life when these goals are met.
- Supports will evolve and change over time based on the individuals’ feedback throughout service.
- No end date for an individual’s length of service and is primarily based off their progress achieving their goals and where they are currently at in their life.
- An individual receiving support will work collaboratively with their LIFE- based worker to create support strategies and a weekly schedule of support that can change with the goals and needs of the individual.
- Take a client-centered approach in adapting goals and tailoring service in a manner that best supports the individuals needs.
- -Support individuals in increasing their level of independence and/or increased use of natural supports in the areas that they would like to see positive change.
Qualifications >
- Salary range will be dependent on qualifications, as per ARC Programs’ Classification Structure Salary Grid. Employees will receive a reduced salary (one step below their placement on the salary grid) during their probationary employment period (4-6 months).
- Candidates for this position will possess sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description.
- The preferred qualifications of the position consist of one of the following:
- BSW and related experience.
- BA-CYC and related experience.
- BA and 2 years related experience.
- CYC Certificate and 3 years related experience.
- 4 years combination of related training and related experience.
The successful candidates will:
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
- Be detail-oriented, organized, and efficient.
- Be skilled at managing multiple concurrent projects, assignments and tasks requested from multiple sources.
- Be capable of working independently, and frequently under pressure.
A current Driver’s License is required.
Successful candidates will be subject to a screening process, including a criminal record search, to confirm suitability for the position.

Upon successful completion of a probationary period, employees who work a minimum of 20-hrs per week are eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP contributions).
New full-time employees are eligible for 3-weeks paid vacation to start, and paid sick days as needed.
