Join the Sport Surrey team! Help advance Surrey as the premier sports destination in the Pacific Northwest through supporting Sport Tourism projects and programs. We are looking for a well-organized, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individual to join the team as a Program Assistant. Share your passion for sport and tourism development as you organize and deliver events all across the City . You will be working varying schedules including frequent weekends and some evenings.


As the Sport Surrey Program Assistant, you will:
    • Plan, implement and deliver sport tourism programs and events including provincial, national and international tournaments. • Support event organizers from the bid stage to the planning stage of their event by providing exceptional customer service to participants, spectators, and the sport tourism community. • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with Discover Surrey and the Surrey Hotel and Motel Association; this includes working as an active member of the collaborative team, attending scheduled meetings, and providing mutually beneficial information and updates. • Support the implementation of the Sport Tourism Strategy, including bid applications and overview of the Sport Tourism Grant program. • Respond to and route communications with event organizers through monitoring email addresses and online application forms. • Assist in minute taking in team meetings - including Sport Tourism Grant Committee meetings, event planning meetings and other projects. • Track and evaluate the results and benefits of hosting major sport tourism events. • Update both the Sport Surrey internal and external websites. • Communicate with and support event volunteers. • Assist with various administrative duties, and perform other duties as required.


    • Completion of grade 12 and some related post-secondary education from a recognized institution, supplemented by 2 years related experience (including supervision). An acceptable combination of training and experience will be considered. • Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate. • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license with a safe driving history. • Effective communication, planning, and organizational skills. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the public. • Working knowledge of community programs, their purpose and objective.

Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
