Scope

Join the Community Enhancement team! Help create a more vibrant, beautiful, and connected community through supporting Community Enhancement projects and programs. The Community Enhancement Section supports and implements a range of community enhancement programs including the Festival and Event Support Team, Neighbourhood Enhancement Grants, Block Party Program, Façade Enhancement Grant, and Civic Plaza Programming. We are looking for a well-organized, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individual to join the team as a Program Assistant. Share your passion for community development as you organize and deliver programs for a diverse community.

You will be working varying schedules including frequent weekends and some evenings.

Responsibilities

As the Community Enhancement Programs Assistant, you will:
    • Provide support for external events and festivals hosted on the Civic Plaza, outdoor festivals, and Cloverdale Fairgrounds. • Respond to and route communications with the public through monitoring email addresses and online application forms. • Schedule facility bookings for programs and events taking place at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. • Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders when required to support the day-to-day operations at various facilities. • Assist in minute taking in team meetings - including FEST meetings, operational meetings and other projects. • Ensures the City's policies and procedures are met during the performance of ongoing duties • Assist with various administrative duties, and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

    • Completion of grade 12 and some related post-secondary education from a recognized institution, supplemented by 2 years related experience (including supervision) in environmental education and/or stewardship. • Current Occupational Level 1 First Aid certificate or acceptable equivalent. • Valid class 5 BC driver's license with a safe driving history. • Effective communication, planning and organizational skills. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the public. • Working knowledge of community programs, their purpose and objective.
Conditions of Employment

Applicants under consideration will be required to consent to a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check .
