Our client, one of Canada’s oldest and most progressive law firms, is currently seeking a paralegal to join their real estate department. This role requires a candidate who will provide professional, efficient and prompt service to their lawyers and clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviewing commercial purchase and sale agreements;
  • Preparing transaction checklists and organizing closing documents;
  • Obtaining and reviewing due diligence (including online searches) and completing summaries;
  • Preparing documents with respect to acquisitions and sales of various types of commercial properties, financing and development land matters;
  • Receiving and reviewing commercial loan and security documents;
  • Preparing closing letters and various correspondence;
  • Obtaining and finalizing title insurance policies;
  • Registering title documents and security in land title offices and other government registries;
  • Supervision of search clerk when assisting in transactions;
  • Prepared to take on other responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience as a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal, preferably in a medium to large Firm environment;
  • Graduate of a recognized paralegal program;
  • Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office registration requirements and capability with e-filing;
  • Good working knowledge of real estate terminology, contracts and forms;
  • Good working skills with all applicable online data bases – BC Online, LTSA, municipal tax searches, etc.
  • Proficient in standard software (Word and Adobe) and preparing Land Title electronic forms;
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze documents for accuracy;
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen effectively and respond appropriately;
  • Ability to work well both independently and as a contributing member of a team, managing work and priorities successfully in each setting;
  • Reliable, responsible, self-motivated and able to take initiative or be proactive where appropriate.
