About The Role and Our Client

Our client is a Canadian firm located in the Heart of Downtown Vancouver, known for their outstanding reputation and dedication to their clients and people. The firm specializes in different areas of legal practice, providing top counsel on legal issues ranging from civil disputes, corporate matters to property & estate litigation, and insurance defence.They are currently seeking a Commercial Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant to assist two partners and an associate who practice primarily in the areas of commercial, administrative and aboriginal litigation matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing correspondence, pleadings, indexes, lists and summaries
  • Editing, formatting, printing and revising letters, memos, reports, court forms, labels and other printed materials
  • Preparing documents, books and/or binders for court, including photocopying and binding
  • Set discovery, trial and other court and/or meeting dates
  • Online registry searches
  • Daily administrative tasks including daily filing, file organization, opening files, closing files, maintaining an electronic and manual bring-forward system, maintain client documents/files and binders, preparation of accounts, etc
  • Other administrative duties as administered


Education and Qualifications

  • Legal Administrative Assistant Certification
  • 3+ years of previous experience as a Commercial Litigation LAA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook etc.,)
  • Legal administrative certificate from a recognized program or requisite work experience
  • Excellent computer skills (familiarity with ESILaw, Worldox and Microsoft Office an asset)
  • Experience in commercial, administrative and/or aboriginal litigation is an asset but not necessary
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Enjoys a challenge and expanding their knowledge base
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Works well under pressure; and
  • Federal Court experience is a definite asset but not required.
  • The ability to practice sound discretion and judgment at all times
