Our Cloud Services team is managing one of the largest cloud environments in British Columbia. In this role, you'll contribute to the operational direction and development of roadmaps related to cloud infrastructure architecture at WorkSafeBC. You'll collaborate with teams to support engineering efforts for WorkSafeBC's cloud and infrastructure technologies. If you enjoy working with fellow EDO Platform team members to achieve a balance between strategic design and tactical needs, we're looking for someone like you.

How you'll make a difference: You'll be using leading-edge technology to help connect British Columbians to healthy and safe workplaces.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position. In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and at least one day a month in our Richmond office.

What you'll do

As a Cloud Systems Engineer I you will:
  • Deploy and maintain WorkSafeBC applications on both on-premise and Azure cloud platforms
  • Manage automation for Azure DevOps pipelines, using both classic and yaml formats
  • Participate in team on-call rotation and resolve incidents within the SLAs set by WorkSafeBC
  • Assist in hybrid cloud integration back to legacy systems and migration of workloads from on-premise to IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
  • Build automation to proactively monitor, detect and prevent failure to reduce time to resolution
  • Create, convert, and support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CICD) pipelines for micro-services supporting containers, auto scaling and service discovery

Is this a good fit for you?

We're looking for someone who can:
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with audiences from various backgrounds
  • Think critically to troubleshoot and analyze configuration performance and availability issues in a cloud environment
  • Collaboratively work with team members to provide technical guidance to colleagues across I&T
  • Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting a culture of collaboration across the organization
  • Actively challenge ideas and engage in thoughtful discussion to foster growth and innovation

Your experience and educational background:
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in progressively complex roles and projects within an IT environment with a primary focus of one year on cloud technologies.

We'll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Important to know

Before we can finalize any offer of employment, you must:
  • Consent to a criminal record check
  • Confirm you're legally entitled to work in Canada
