Job Summary Bring your strong administrative experience and superior organizational skills to this challenging positionThe Corrections Branch plays a leading role in the criminal justice system by protecting the community through offender management and control. The Branch manages community work service and supports offenders to make positive changes in behavior and attitude.
The Warden's Assistant leads the provision of administrative services in support of the planning and delivery of correctional services. The position supervises and coordinates administrative services, and provides executive coordination of information, issues, plans and a central communication structure for the warden and deputy wardens.
Job Requirements: - Grade 12 or equivalent.
- 1 yearof experience providing administrative support working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases (e.g. Microsoft Office applications: Word Excel, Outlook, Lync) for word processing, spread sheeting, data entry, email, and video teleconferencing; and case management of other database applications.
- Experience providing administrative support to management.
- Experience dealing with confidential matters using sound judgement, tact and diplomacy.
- Experience in the use of a Records Management System.
- Experience working well with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- 3 years of experience providing administrative support working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases (e.g. Microsoft Office applications: Word Excel, Outlook, Lync) for word processing, spread sheeting, data entry, email, and video teleconferencing; and case management of other database applications.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Experience with CORNET and/or JUSTIN data base systems.
- Experience working in a correctional environment.
- Experience with ARCS/ORCS.
- Experience in providing services to various levels of government, industry, public and private organizations.
Willingness:
- Willingness to keep self informed on current trends and issues through ongoing training, education and participation in branch projects;
- Willingness to work flexible/extended hours as necessary; and
- Willingness to travel occasionally, for varying lengths of time.
