Job Summary

The next exciting step in your administrative career

At the Superior Courts Judiciary, staff support the work of the Court of Appeal for British Columbia, and Supreme Court of British Columbia. The Court of Appeal is the highest court in the province. It hears appeals from the Supreme Court, from the Provincial Court on some criminal matters, and reviews and appeals from some administrative boards and tribunals. The Supreme Court of British Columbia is the province's superior trial court. The Supreme Court is a court of general and inherent jurisdiction which means that it can hear any type of case, civil or criminal.

The payroll clerk works as part of the finance team, reporting to the Manager, Finance. This position serves an important function to ensure the SCJ payroll is accurately entered, reconciled and judicial staff have their pay questions answered in a timely fashion.

Job Requirements:
  • Post Secondary Diploma in accounting, financial management or payroll such as the Payroll Administration Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Experience processing Canadian payroll.
  • Experience with interpreting and applying financial policy relating to expenditure management.
  • Experience with continuous or process improvements related to expenditures, internal controls and financial operations.
  • Experience generating financial spreadsheets, working documents and reports using MS Excel.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Recent (within the past 5 years), related experience processing Canadian Payroll for an organization with 20 + employees.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate (PCP), or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM).
  • Enrollment in and working towards the National Payroll Institute (NPI) certificate.
  • Experience working with corporate financial systems in the BC Public Service Agency.

This is a temporary opportunity until June 30, 2024, which may be extended and/or become permanent.

This position is located in Vancouver.

Flexible work options are available;this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement
