The Adoption and Permanency Branch is responsible for supporting timely permanency planning and adoption for children and youth in care throughout the Ministry of Children and Family Development, Delegated Aboriginal Agencies and the practice oversight of Licensed Adoption Agency. The branch provides direct services to the public and stakeholders throughout BC, Canada and internationally in the administration of Adoption Registries. Pursuant to the Adoption Act, the branch operates five registries including the Adoption Reunion Registry, the Inter-country Registry, the Openness Exchange Registry, the Post-adoption Openness Registry and the Parents' Registry.

The Registry Technicianreceives, reviews and validates incoming submissions and clarifies case information with clients. They also makeinitial determinations or recommendations within established criteria and guidelines.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience providing administrative/clerical support.
  • Experience dealing with upset/angry clients by phone.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working in public sector databases.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Experience applying legislation and regulations.
  • Experience in the use of CLIFF correspondence system.
  • Experience making meeting and travel arrangements.
