BC Timber Sales (BCTS)manages about 20 per cent of the province's allowable annual cut forCrown timber,generating economic prosperity for British Columbians through the safe, sustainable development and auction of Crown timber. BCTS operates in 33 communities and directly supports over 8,000 jobs across B.C.

Data from our operations are used to help determine the market value of the timber harvested from public land and ensures British Columbiansreceive fairvalue from their timber resources.

BCTS also supports government's commitment to true, lasting reconciliation with First Nations in BCas we move toward fully adopting and implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

The goal of BCTS is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the market pricing system through auctions of timber harvested from public land in BC. BCTS has three objectives supporting its goal:
  • Objective 1:Sell the full BCTS apportionment over the business cycle, consistent with safe practices, sustainable forest management, and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
  • Objective 2:Generate direct net revenue and indirect revenue for the Province over the business cycle.
  • Objective 3:Continuous business improvement - within BCTS, across government and with third parties.

Financial Operations Assistants provide specialized technical and administrative services to the BCTS Headquarters including the provincial Seedling Services Team. Services support over $20 million in contracts and expenditures as well as the production, storage and transportation of over 50 million seedlings annually to numerous cold storage and field sites. The position prepares and administers a wide variety of contracts, coordinates seedling transportation and cold storage, provides operational financial administration advice, and maintains a variety of systems and services integral to meeting BCTS Headquarters' operational goals and objectives.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirements as outlined below:


• Diploma or certificate in a financial, business or administration program and one year current experience or Grade 12 and four years current related experience in an office administration environment.
• Demonstrated information management experience developing tracking systems, entering data, generating spreadsheets and reports.

Preference Statements:
• Preference may be given to applicants with experience with seedlings, nurseries, cold storage and/or shipping and receiving.
• Preference may be given to applicants with experience with financial administration such as accounts payable (processing and reconciliation), monitoring and reporting, or contract administration.
