The Office of the Lieutenant Governor and Government House itself is multi-dimensional, supporting several distinct lines of business including constitutional and international protocol matters, ceremonial and hospitality events, and the management, and maintenance of Government House as a National Historic Site. The role of staff is to provide direct support to the Lieutenant Governor and to the senior management of Government House; to maintain the Government House structures and grounds; and to carry out all obligations, events and other activities in the highest standards of professionalism, observance of protocols, and expectations of the people of British Columbia.

The Programs Assistant provides event and administrative support by preparing correspondence and all documents required for events, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and supporting the director as required. This position is the key contact for booking tours of Government House and receiving responses to invitations to events held at Government House. The Programs Assistant provides information on events to government officials, VIPs, community and business representations and the general public.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Diploma or post secondary course in office or business administration, communications, event planning and / or public affairs or a related field and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination may be considered

Three years of related experience includes:
  • Office administration using MS Office, with direct experience using Access, Adobe Creative Suite and proficient with social media
  • Organizing and maintaining calendars, schedules, and agendas
  • Coordinating and managing events; liaising with internal / external stakeholders
  • Working in a high-volume, detailed-oriented environment
  • Maintaining filing and records management
