Detective DivisionCivilian - Computer Forensic Examiner PERMANENT FULL TIME POSITION
The Saanich Police Department is seeking a highly motivated individual who is a creative thinker with strong analytical and computer skills to work as a civilian member in the Computer Forensic Unit working out of the Integrated Tech Crime Unit. The duties include assisting in a variety of computer-based investigations by recovering digital evidence from cell phones, computers, and other electronic storage media. The successful candidate will be required to produce detailed reports and give expert court testimony as to the steps taken to recovering any data.
Extensive training will be provided but it is expected that applicants would have a combination of post-secondary education in Computer Science, or a related field, and related field experience. A full list of preferred qualifications can be found in the Position Description .
Due to the duties of the position any potential applicants will be required to pass enhanced reliability screening, which will include an extensive background check and polygraph.
The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
