Scope

As the City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation & Culture Department, we enhance the quality of life in our communities by working to provide and facilitate the development of high-quality parks, facilities, and services; by celebrating diversity and community identity; and by ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all. We are currently recruiting for auxiliary child-minding positions. Successful candidates will have experience working with children from 0-12 years of age and have relevant knowledge and experience in the childcare field.

Responsibilities

    • Supervising and interacting with children ages 0-12. • Supervising snack time. • Cleaning and organizing toys and play materials. • Assisting with general care and tasks that one would assume during a childminding experience. • Ensuring the environment is safe for all participants and peers.


Qualifications

    • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by 1 year of relevant experience or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience. • Valid First Aid with CPR-C and AED Certification. • High-Five Certification or willingness to obtain within the first 6 months. • Relevant education. • Positive and engaging attitude towards both children and adults. • Ability to multitask and strong communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to manage a fast-paced environment. • Role model for children, parents and peers.


Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
