Our client is an Early Childhood Learning Centre in Squamish. They are looking for a Centre Operation Director, Early Childcare (Infant/Toddler) Educator, and an Early Childcare Educator to join their team. These are full-time, permanent opportunities, with the right candidates being available to start immediately.

The Centre Director provides and coordinates the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the centre, the philosophy and policies of the agency, and in strict compliance with BC law.

Centre Operation Director

Salary: $60,000 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures and facilitates the smooth functioning of all aspects of the child care centre in order to best serve children and families
  • Provides supervision, leadership and support to all centre staff
  • Conducts ongoing informal and annual formal performance evaluations of centre staff
  • Facilitates the recruitment and coordinates the selection, hiring and orientation of all new staff to the centre, within agency-approved processes and polices
  • Ensures licensing requirements are met at all times
  • Maintains operation of the centre within the approved budget, in consultation with the Director of Finance
  • Coordinates staff scheduling within approved teacher-child ratios
  • Oversees and manages all elements of centre enrollment with the City’s subsidy office, and ensures the smooth integration of new client-children into the centre
  • Works closely with the centre’s administrative assistant (or senior staff with admin responsibilities, as applicable) to ensure the efficient administrative operation of the centre
  • Consults, supports and provides guidance to teaching staff in evaluating and revising children’s programming as required
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships and regular communication with parent-clients; facilitates or directly provides mediation and resolution to parent-program conflicts which arise
  • Ensures regular liaison and communication, as required and applicable, with third parties, including landlord, custodial service, maintenance services, (school administration, school board as applicable to position), etc.
  • Ensures appropriate professional development opportunities are made available to centre staff, within centre and agency budget parameters and in accordance with identified training needs of staff at the centre
  • Markets the centre to prospective client-parents, within agency standards
  • In collaboration with the teaching team, facilitates the placement, orientation and evaluation of ECE students on placements at the centre
  • Is an active, contributing member of the agency’s Management Team, providing input to Senior Management (Executive Director and Director of Finance) on policy and other matters affecting the agency. Communicates key messages on decisions made by the Management Team to centre staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Represents the agency by participation on committees in the child care community
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director

Requirements:

  • ECE diploma or provincially recognized equivalent.
  • Valid Standard First Aid.
  • Negative criminal records check.
  • Demonstrated child care centre management/supervisory experience.
  • Solid knowledge of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act .

Early Childcare (Infant/Toddler) Educator

Salary: $54,080 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement childcare program that support the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • Lead several main activities such as telling stories, provide activities that encourage creativity through arts, plays or music.
  • Guide and assist children in daily habits such as eating, dressing.
  • Assess the abilities and the needs of the children and discuss developing progress with parents or other staff members.
  • Prepare reports of any behavioral problems of the children for supervisor or parents.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers and related departments working with children.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Completed 2 to 4 years program in early childhood education or bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Certification for early childhood educators issued from British Columbia authority (BC ECE License)
  • First Aid Certification
  • Clear Criminal Record

Early Childcare Educator

Salary: $49,920 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement childcare program that support the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • Lead several main activities such as telling stories, provide activities that encourage creativity through arts, plays or music.
  • Guide and assist children in daily habits such as eating, dressing.
  • Assess the abilities and the needs of the children and discuss developing progress with parents or other staff members.
  • Prepare reports of any behavioral problems of the children for supervisor or parents.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers and related departments working with children.
  • Other duties as assigned
