Under the general supervision of the Director of Care or designate, the RN provides direct nursing care to residents and maintains related records.  The RN also performs other related duties such as providing work direction and orientation to the care givers in their application of resident care, assigning tasks and demonstrating work routines to the care givers.

8 hour shifts are available (days, evenings and nights) – preference will be given to candidates who can work night shifts. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Graduate from a recognized nursing program.
  • Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College or Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).
  • Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification.
  • Recent long-term care nursing experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Teamwork and Collaboration:  Demonstrated ability to work together with others toward shared goals and desired outcomes.  Demonstrates an ability to effectively establish professional working relationships with residents and their families as well as members of the care team toward the outcome of excellence in resident care.
  • Knowledge:  Clinical competence appropriate with long-term care resident needs.
  • Communication:  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team – both verbally and in writing.  Ability to intervene effectively to resolve conflict and produce positive outcomes.  Manage stress and work pressure effectively.
  • Results Oriented:  Ability to identify opportunities for improvement.  Formulate and implement plans that produce desired outcomes in a timely and effective manner.
  • Problem Solving:  Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills, and systems analysis.
  • Physical:  Ability to carry out all duties of the position including performing repetitive tasks, lifting, transferring and moving residents safely.  Must be in good health and free from communicable diseases.
