This position operates out of the Douglas College Burnaby Training Centre with occasional work from other Douglas College locations and/or remote.

The Role
The Career Development Practitioner will contribute to developing a "dual-client" career guidance service model that bridges the career development needs of working adults and employers. The role will proactively guide working Canadians in identifying meaningful and viable career advancement or transition options, as well as support them in strategizing personalized career development plans to achieve their goals.
ResponsibilitiesNeeds Assessment
•engage with project partners, researchers and all stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of the needs of working Canadians in career transition; •identify key sectors and employers and participate in discovery conversations about pathways and laddering for existing employees; •collaborate with partners to share promising findings to inform concept generation.
Concept Generation
•market, recruit and identify participants to contribute to the co-design of the model; •generate employer-led career guidance opportunities for working Canadians;
Career Development
•understand, apply and reference career theories; •identify suitable action planning activities and documentation for working Canadians; •locate gaps in career development and make recommendations for upskilling opportunities;
Prototyping & Testing
•participate in implementing the new career services prototype in BC; •test the theory with up to 30 working Canadian participants.
Administration
•work collaboratively with reserchers; •perform other duties as needed.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
CCDP designation and 5 years directly related experience;
excellent written and verbal skills;
degree from a recognized university preferred.
