Prince George Youth Custody Services (PGYCS) provides Secure and Open sentenced custody as well as remand and pre-court detention for male and female residents in custody under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Youth Justice contributes to public safety by promoting the development of law abiding behaviour primarily through an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach. Under the general direction of the Health Care Services Supervisor, and with a high degree of clinical independence participates in the coordination and delivery of Health Care to residents in custody at PGYCS.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nursing Professionals/BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
    • NOTE:If your degree or diploma was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). Confirmation of equivalency of your degree is required for you to be considered. Please indicate in your resume (include a copy of the approval; if in progress), proof must be provided on or by the closing date of the posting.You must also be eligible for BCCNM registration before the posting closing date.
    • NOTE: Internationally-educated nurseswho have never been registered in Canada may be eligible for registration to practice as an RN in B.C.Important:Beforestarting a BCCNM application, you must first apply to the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) .
  • Preferred experience working with adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Willingness Statements:
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Level 2 Occupational First Aid.
  • Must be willing to work shift work including days, evenings, and weekends.
